Summer Open Days a hit with prospective students

Released: 27.06.18

Almost 300 prospective undergraduate and postgraduate students, including groups from Bodmin, Liskeard and Dawlish colleges, attended our recent Summer Open Days to take part in a range of hands-on course activities, information talks, campus tours and fun events in the blazing June sunshine.

New Open Day activities designed to give visitors a real 鈥榮tudents鈥 eye鈥 view of life at Marjon were popular. This included a new 鈥極pen Houses鈥 initiative, with Marjon student ambassadors playing host to prospective students in houses and flats on campus to give them a taste of the range of accommodation available on-site.

As well as gathering essential information on funding, personal statements, accommodation and different course options, visitors were also given a chance to meet academic staff and course leaders, sample course activities and take part in course fairs. This included a primary 鈥榦pen classroom鈥 event, which proved particularly popular.

Entertainment included music by Sam Bowden, with an impromptu jamming session from Student Ambassador, David Scoles, on the Friday and an International Pop Up Taster Food Zone, giving visitors a chance to sample umami, focaccia and shawarma.

The Open Days received positive feedback from visitors who were impressed by the friendly atmosphere, enthusiastic and approachable staff, level of information available, facilities and passion from existing students for studying at Marjon .

Visitor comments included:  鈥淚 thought the open day was absolutely fantastic and was so impressed with the students during the campus tour. I have decided that I would love to apply for your university through UCAS extra which I will arrange today.鈥

鈥淚f I hadn鈥檛 have visited, I鈥檓 not sure I would鈥檝e applied. I definitely will now.鈥

Congratulations to Trinity Squires from 91视频, who was the winner of a 拢50 Amazon gift voucher in our Open Days prize draw.
