Released: 04.07.19

91视频 has retained its excellent performance in the National Student Survey this year, achieving 87% satisfaction. This makes Marjon the joint top University for student satisfaction in Devon and Cornwall, ranking equally with the University of Exeter and firmly placing Marjon within the top tier of higher education options across the South West.

The National Student Survey feeds into many league tables and is considered the ultimate measure of student satisfaction across the sector. It is carried out by the Office for Students, with 330,000 students completing the survey this year.

Marjon once again demonstrated the high quality of its personalised approach to teaching, designed to support every student to be their best. Across measures of learning community, academic support, and assessment and feedback, Marjon was ranked significantly above sector, achieving within the top ten Universities in the country for many questions. Highlights include 鈥榯he teaching on my course鈥 reaching 90% satisfaction vs 84% across the whole sector; a measure which includes questions around the course being intellectually stimulating and staff making the subject interesting. 鈥楲earning Opportunities鈥 achieved 90% against 83% in the sector overall. Marjon鈥檚 individual approach to students is demonstrated in the assessment and feedback section, where 86% agreed that they 鈥渞eceived helpful comments on my work鈥, significantly ahead of the sector at 74%.

Marjon鈥檚 longstanding expertise in teacher training was evident, with high results in BEd Primary Education (98%); BEd Secondary Education with Physical Education (100%) and the Foundation degree in Teaching and Learning which achieved 100% satisfaction. Sport and Health courses also performed well with Sport and Exercise Science reaching 96% satisfaction, Speech and Language Therapy scoring 95%, Sport Development reaching 93%, and Rehabilitation in Sport and Exercise reaching 91%. The Journalism course achieved 92% satisfaction, as Marjon prepares to open a workshop for these students on the BBC campus from September 2019, enabling journalism students to work alongside BBC staff.

Geoffery Gulzar, the incoming President of Marjon Students鈥 Union, who has just completed his degree at Marjon, said, 鈥淚鈥檓 really pleased to be starting my term in office on these brilliant results. I鈥檝e had a great three years at Marjon, travelling abroad, gaining qualifications and being supported by the staff in all of my goals. I can鈥檛 wait to be able to give something back to a place which has always gone the extra mile for me.鈥

Professor Rob Warner said, 鈥淭his outstanding result demonstrates once again the very special partnership we have at Marjon between students and staff. Our students really appreciate the personalised ways in which we are dedicated to their success. And our latest staff survey indicates very high levels of staff confidence in our University. Marjon is a great place to study and a great place to work!鈥
